An Iowa City man with a lengthy criminal history has been charged again after allegedly trying to steal some high-end foods from Walmart on Highway 1.

The incident occurred September 10th at Walmart’s Iowa City location.  44-year-old Shay Henderson reportedly filled a cart with lobster tails, cheese, aluminum foil, garbage bags, shrimp, two bottles of tequila, and steaks.

Members of the store staff prevented him from leaving the store with the merchandise.  The store also had previous surveillance video reportedly showing Henderson committing thefts.

He has over a dozen related convictions since 2015 through 2023, and has several theft charges from 2024 that have yet to go through the courts.

Henderson was charged with 3rd degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if  convicted.
