An Iowa City man accused of distributing child pornography via social media has been given a suspended sentence.

Earlier this week, Judge Brandon Schrock also sentenced 30-year-old Devin Kelly of Briar Drive to three years of probation and ten years on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Kelly was accused of using Snapchat to distribute two photos depicting children engaged in sex acts. The incident dates back to January of 2021. A check of a digital device belonging to Kelly reportedly turned up 437 images and videos of children engaged in sex acts.

Kelly was charged with three counts each of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Possessing a Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act.  If convicted on all six counts, he would have faced a maximum of 21 years in prison. On Tuesday, Kelly pleaded guilty to one of each count in return for the suspended sentence.
