A Cedar Rapids man convicted for his part in a downtown Iowa City beating in 2023 faces a probation violation after a bar fight in downtown Cedar Rapids last month.
Cedar Rapids Police say 27-year-old Donall Diggins of Bever Avenue SE was involved in a fight at Hazzard County American Saloon on 2nd Avenue SE just before 2:15 on the morning of February 23rd. He and another suspect allegedly beat another man outside the door. Diggins was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Disorderly Conduct.
Diggins was given a suspended sentence and probation after an August 2023 incident on the 100 block of South Clinton Street where he and others beat another man while he was on the ground. The victim suffered a broken nose, a broken eye socket, a brain bleed, and a major concussion.
Diggins was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with a probation violation. He’s also accused of skipping a meeting with his probation officer in January.
