Iowa City’s three public high schools have been split up and paired with Class 5A teams in other parts of the state as part of the 2025-26 redistricting announced Wednesday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
City High will play in District 1, which also includes Central Iowa teams such as Des Moines East, Norwalk, Ottumwa, Southeast Polk, and Waukee Northwest. West High and Liberty have been grouped with mostly Quad Cities-area teams in District 6, which also includes Davenport Central, Muscatine, Pleasant Valley, and Linn-Mar.
In Class 3A, Solon has been shifted to southeast Iowa in District 4 along with Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant and Washington.
Clear Creek Amana is joining Class 4A District 4 with other teams along Interstate 80 including Grinnell, Newton and Pella, as well as Marion and Oskaloosa.
Regina is in Class 1A District 6 along with Cardinal, Durant, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Louisa-Muscatine, and Sigourney/Keota.
