Iowa City Police have arrested an armed subject after a foot chase through multiple apartment buildings on the city’s west side.
According to arrest records, an officer in a police vehicle and full uniform approached 27-year-old Kristopher Dandridge just after 5:00 Thursday night on Mormon Trek Boulevard. Dandridge allegedly turned around and ran. A foot chase ensued, winding through multiple apartment buildings before Dandridge was captured by other law enforcement officers.
Police say Dandridge had a Taurus G2S 9mm handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants. Dandridge has a felony 2nd Degree Theft conviction in Johnson County from 2014, and is thus ineligible to carry a firearm.
A search of Dandridge’s Rushmore Drive apartment reportedly turned up raw marijuana and two metal one-hitters with burnt residue.
Dandridge is charged with Possession of a Firearm as a Felon, Interference With Official Acts Involving a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of over 11 years in prison.
