The Johnson County Board of Supervisors has begun requesting proposals from nonprofit organizations and government entities to lease and manage the 15-unit property at 1102 Hollywood Boulevard in Iowa City.
Proposals should ensure the completion of a 20-year affordability period and demonstrate financial stability, experience with grant compliance, and a tenant selection process that supports Johnson County’s goal of reducing housing access barriers for tenants.
The Supervisors purchased the property in July 2024 for the development of affordable housing. The property will feature newly renovated, two-bedroom, one-bathroom, partially furnished, two-story townhomes. Following a series of energy-efficient upgrades, the homes will be available for occupancy. Johnson County invested a total of $2.25 million in the project.
The purchase is part of a series of initiatives by Johnson County to address affordable housing needs. It’s estimated that there’s an over 12,000 unit shortfall for the county’s lowest income renters.
Proposals can be submitted through the application portal at https://www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/bids-and-proposals. Deadline is noon on Friday, April 4th.
