Motorists who drive on Highway 1 and Highway 22 between Highway 92 and Kalona need to be aware of an upcoming event that may slow down the commute.
Beginning at 9:00 Tuesday morning, weather permitting, crews will start the process of moving a barn 17.3 miles from 2830 220th Street in Ainsworth to 7th Street near Kalona. The route will use Spruce Avenue, 210th Street, Redwood Avenue, 190th Street/Washington County Road G-26, Highway 1, and 170th Street. Crews plan on ending the first day of the move after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 1 and 170th Street.
On the second day of the move, crews will begin at 9:00 Wednesday morning. They will start moving the barn from the intersection of Highway 1 and 170th Street, moving north and continuing east on East Avenue/Highway 22. They will be finished with the move around 2 p.m. when they arrive at 7th Street.
