An Iowa City man given a suspended sentence after police say he fired a gun at his pregnant girlfriend has been arrested again after allegedly violating a no-contact order in the case.
22-year-old Dayvon Long of Appanoose Court was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 10:15 Friday night. Iowa City Police say Long and some associates went to the protected party’s Wayne Avenue apartment on the afternoon of February 6th and knocked on the door. He reportedly made statements about wanting to see his daughter.
Last month, Long pleaded guilty to charges of Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon, Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, and Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Property Damage after he allegedly shot at the protected party in the same apartment in June of 2024. The bullet hit a television in the bedroom. Three children were present during the incident.
Long was given a pair of five-year suspended sentences and credit for time served.
