An Iowa City man accused of knocking a woman unconscious in downtown Iowa City is now suspected of breaking a no-contact order in the case multiple times over the last two months.
36-year-old Jaren Brooks of Cross Park Avenue is facing a Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury charge after he allegedly knocked the woman to the ground at the bus stop at Washington and Clinton Streets on September 23rd of last year. A no-contact order was put in place between Brooks and the woman, but University of Iowa Police say the two were seen together purchasing items at the UI Health Care gift shop on Hawkins Drive on the morning of January 31st. Video allegedly also shows the two together at the UIHC on two other occasions in January and February.
Iowa City Police say they found the pair arguing at The Airliner on the night of February 11th.
If convicted on the assault charge, Brooks faces a maximum of one year in jail.
