The University of Iowa has released a statement on attempts by the Donald Trump administration to freeze federal funding of research at the nation’s colleges and universities.
The statement from UI President Barbara Wilson says school officials are monitoring the situation as it works its way through the courts and are taking proactive steps to advocate on behalf of the university.
Loss of National Institutes of Health funding alone could cost the UI an estimated $33.4 million.
Wilson says UI officials are in contact with Iowa’s congressional representatives and will provide updates as they occur on the UI’s federal update page.
