A local transient is accused of trying to use a stolen credit card at two different Iowa City businesses.

Iowa City Police say 41-year-old Brandy Fulton first tried to use the card throughout the day on January 18th at Iowa Smoke Time and Vapor Shop on East Washington Street. Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., she allegedly tried to make purchases of $134.50, $97.46, and $68.86, but all three were declined.

At about 12:30 that same afternoon, Fulton reportedly successfully used the card to purchase $13.27 in cigarettes at the East Burlington Street Kum & Go.

Fulton is charged with two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card and one of 5th Degree Theft. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of 49 months in jail.
