UI Department of Emergency Management news release

Receiving emergency alerts in a timely manner is crucial to your safety. As the academic year progresses, it’s a good time to review your Hawk Alert settings and follow these best practices:

  • Save the Hawk Alert phone number. Add 319-335-5911 to your contacts to prevent spam filters from blocking these important calls.
  • Sign up for text messages. While everyone receives a Hawk Alert email, text messages are the fastest way to get alerts. While phone calls are also effective in grabbing your attention during emergencies, this method of delivery is not the most timely.
  • Update your contact information. Ensure your phone number, email address, and other preferences are accurate and current.

By taking these steps, you can stay better informed and prepared. All students and employees should review and update their Hawk Alert settings using MyUI and Employee Self Service.

During an emergency, Hawk Alert updates are posted on the campus emergency website. For more information about the campus emergency notification system, visit the Hawk Alert web page.
