Police have charged a Linn County man accused of promoting a party east of Shueyville where marijuana use was advertised.

The party reportedly took place at an Airbnb on 120th Street on the night of February 17th, 2024. Investigators say they recovered 163 grams of marijuana and four firearms.

Two attendees have been charged so far. 23-year-old Ireonna Parks of Cedar Rapids was booked into the Johnson County Jail Monday afternoon. Now police have also charged 20-year-old Sydney Miller of Fairfax. According to arrest records, the two fled the party as officers arrived. Police say they have since found photos of Parks and Miller attending the party, with other people in the photos smoking marijuana. Miller also allegedly promoted the party on social media, including references to marijuana being available.

Parks and Miller are each charged with Gathering Where Marijuana is Being Used. If convicted, they each face a maximum of one year in jail.

Parks is already facing a February 6th plea hearing on Forgery and Malicious Prosecution charges out of Black Hawk County. She also has a February 12th trial scheduled for an Operating While Intoxicated charge out of Linn County. Parks was also given a suspended sentence on a 2nd Degree Theft charge out of Scott County in 2023, and she has numerous convictions for Driving While Barred.

In January of 2024 Miller was given a deferred judgement on a Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp charge out of Linn County.
