The City of Oxford is reminding residents about the proper use of the brush and burn pile at the city’s sewer plant.

According to a post on the city’s official Facebook page, some people have been using the pile to dump trash. The city is reminding residents that the brush and burn pile is for the residents of Oxford to dispose of cut up trees, tree branches, and leaves. It is not to be used as a landfill.

The area is burned periodically and maintained by the city’s Public Works Department.

If Oxford residents have items they need disposed of that aren’t included in the acceptable brush and burn pile items, city officials say they can contact the Iowa City Landfill & Recycling Center to discuss their options for disposing of those items.
