Muscatine police are investigating the vandalism of two restaurants.
KCRG TV reports Mayor Brad Bark shared photos of the restaurants, with grafitti drawn on their buildings. They include Jibaro Restaurant, which serves Puerto Rican food, and Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant. Police believe the vandalism happened sometime Sunday. The graffiti included swastikas and phrases like “we don’t want you here.” Puerto Rico is an American territory.
Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact Muscatine police.
The mayor issued a statement saying that community leaders do not condone hate-filled behavior and are working to identify those involved. He added, “Such acts are absolutely disgusting and have no place here in Muscatine.”
