A candidate for the open seat on the Iowa City Council has dropped out of the race.
The Daily Iowan reports Sharon DeGraw made the announcement on a Facebook post, citing a personal matter. She asked for privacy from the press and the public.
DeGraw originally said that she was excited to run for the open slot and speaking on behalf of Northside residents. She planned to advocate for affordable housing, women, vulnerable communities, a vibrant inclusive city and a balance between development and sustainability.
That leaves two announced candidates; local businessman Ross Nusser and community housing advocate Oliver Weilein.
DeGraw will remain on the ballot for the February 4th primary.
