Firefighters from multiple agencies were called to a blaze at a Tiffin townhome Monday morning.

According to a news release from the Tiffin Fire Department, firefighters from Tiffin, Iowa City, North Liberty, and Oxford were all dispatched to 529 Bluestem Street just before 8:30 a.m. A six-plex under construction had an active fire burning between the walls of units 529 and 531. There was no one inside the structure when the first units arrived.

Firefighters were on the scene for just over 90 minutes. Damage is estimated at $80,000. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, although in its news release the Tiffin Fire Department reminds residents not to overload electrical circuits while using portable heaters.
