An Iowa City man with a long record of criminal offenses was arrested again after an alleged assault at the Old Capitol Mall.

The incident reportedly occurred Monday morning just before 9:30. 53-year-old Charles Henderson of Shelter House reportedly was seen on video assaulting another subject by punching him in the face, putting him a sort of headlock while punching him in the head, then punching him in the back of the head.

The victim complained of pain and had redness to his head.

A warrant was issued the next day, and Henderson was served Wednesday. He faces a charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness, a serious misdemeanor. He was released to the supervision of the Department of Corrective Services and will be arraigned at a later date.

Henderson has several theft convictions on his criminal record.
