A shots-fired incident Sunday night has led to multiple charges against an Iowa City man.

Officers responded to the 100 block of South Scott Boulevard at around 7:20pm for reports of shots fired, and reportedly located a vehicle that appeared to have been shot.  Police then approached the building where the suspect was said to have entered and encountered 33-year-old Jesse Davis exiting the building and going into the parking lot holding a wood stock and black rifle.

The weapon turned out to be an air rifle capable of firing a.50 caliber projectile at 1130 feet per second.

Davis allegedly showed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of ingested alcohol.  After reportedly showing measurable impairment on field sobriety tests, he refused a PBT. A subsequent Datamaster was accepted, and Davis provided a breath-alcohol level of .210 percent.

He was charged with Possession or Carrying a Dangerous Weapon while Intoxicated, Public Intoxication, and Prohibited Carrying of a Toy Gun. If convicted on all counts, Davis could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail.
