A registered sex offender is back behind bars after a 16-year-old runaway was reportedly found at his Coralville residence.
Coralville Police were called to the Coral Court apartment of 34-year-old Thomas Lindley last Monday to search for the girl. Officers say they spent 30 minutes knocking on the door while identifying themselves with no answer. Lindley’s roommate, 26-year-old Richard Rilling III, finally answered the door when the girl’s mother was able to reach her via text. Lindley, Rilling and the girl all later allegedly admitted to hearing the police at the door.
Lindley was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before noon on Friday on a probation violation, with Rilling being booked into the facility just before 11:30 Tuesday morning on a parole violation.
Lindley is on probation for a sex offender violation in 2023 after he set up a social media account without informing the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Lindley has three convictions for 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse against a girl between the ages of 14 and 17 and one for Lascivious Acts With a Child against a girl under the age of 14. All four cases are from 2011 in Linn County.
