A Solon man was taken into custody over the weekend on a warrant stemming from an alleged OWI that occurred two months ago.
On the afternoon of November 4th, a State Trooper on patrol responded to a single vehicle crash on Morse Road approximately a mile east of Highway 1. 42-year-old Jason Peterson was allegedly observed by a witness driving erratically and passing them at a high rate of speed before running a stop sign and crashing.
Two witnesses who stopped to help allege Peterson climbed out of the window of his Chevy Express and was visibly intoxicated. The trooper found Peterson standing in the roadway, bleeding and injured from the crash. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication, could barely walk, was combative, and had the odor of ingested alcohol.
Peterson was allegedly unable to perform field tests and refused a PBT. He was taken to the UI Emergency room, where he was reportedly physically combative and had to be restrained and sedated to be treated. A blood draw was taken with doctor consent, and lab results showed his blood-alcohol level at .180 percent.
A warrant was issued December 13th; Peterson was taken into custody Sunday and charged with first offense OWI. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted. On Monday, he posted bond and was released pending future court dates.
