Police continue to investigate the Dec. 30th shooting death of 38-year-old Christine Blount of Iowa City.

The Iowa City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38 am that day on the 600 Block of S. Dodge Street. Responding officers located Blount, who was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Blount, who was affectionately known as Gucci, was a member of the team at Shelter House. A post on the non-profit’s Facebook page called her “a deeply respected and valued professional with whom we were lucky to work for the past three years.” She centered her work on Cross Park Place, a facility that takes care of permanent supportive housing tenants.

A GoFundMe page, “Help Gucci’s Family Heal After Tragic Loss,” has already raised in excess of $17,000  for her six children, three grandchildren, and three additional teenagers in her care.

At this time, investigators are asking anyone with video cameras to review their residential or vehicle footage from between the hours of 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Dec. 30.  Anyone with potentially useful footage – or any other information related to the investigation – is asked to contact Iowa City Police Detective Ryan Wood at RWood@iowa-city.org.

In addition, Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about this incident that leads to an arrest. Crime Stoppers tips can be submitted via the P3 Tips app, online at iccrimestoppers.org, or by phone at 319-358-TIPS. All tips and calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed. Individuals providing information are not required to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
