An Illinois man faces up to 13 months in jail after allegedly carrying a fake ID and refusing to leave a downtown Iowa City bar after being kicked out.
20-year-old Ryan Wilbee of Geneva was at the Summit on South Clinton Street New Year’s Eve just before 11:40pm. Bar staff flagged down an officer on patrol and he allegedly observed Wilbee yelling at staff and refusing to leave after being kicked out. He showed signs of intoxication including slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes.
Wilbee allegedly provided the officer with a fictitious ID and verbally confirmed the information on the ID to be correct. Once he was notified that there was no match in the state database, Wilbee reportedly admitted to his real age.
He was arrested and refused a preliminary breath test.
Wilbee was charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Fictitious ID. He faces a maximum 13 month jail sentence if convicted on both charges.
