Name released in shooting investigation

The female victim in the Dec. 30, 2024, shooting investigation has been identified as Christine Blount, 38, of Iowa City. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

The Iowa City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38 a.m., Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, in the 600 Block of S. Dodge Street.

Responding officers located a female victim who was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of her next of kin. The incident, which appears to be isolated, remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
