The Iowa Hawkeyes couldn’t hold a 24-14 second half lead, as kicker Blake Craig hit a field goal of 51 yards to tie it and a 56-yarder to take the lead for the first time with 4:36 to go, and the Missouri Tigers defeated Iowa 27-24 in the Transperfect Music City Bowl in Nashville Monday afternoon.
Iowa opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown from Terrell Washington Jr. Immediately after a first quarter Missouri TD to tie the game at 7s, Kaden Weitgen returned the kick 100 yards for a touchdown to put Iowa up 14-7. The two teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter.
Quarterback Brendan Sullivan was 14 for 18 for 131 yards. He threw for one touchdown and threw one interception. Kamari Moulton had 14 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown with less than a minute left in the half to give the Hawkeyes a 21-14 lead.
Drew Stevens hit a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter to end the scoring for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa ends the season at 8-5.
