A large gathering of people outside a downtown Cedar Rapids nightclub turned violent, with seven people getting arrested on various charges.
Iowa’s News Now reports a large group of people gathered outside TRU Nightclub on 2nd Ave. SE between 1:30 and 2am Sunday morning. One anonymous downtown resident said they heard people making enough noise that could be heard from a couple blocks away.
Officers on scene reported several of those gathered were fighting and ignored their commands to stop.
The incident took about 45 minutes to clear. Charges filed among those arrested included disorderly conduct, firearm violations, and failure to disburse.
The names of those arrested were not immediately released.
