Iowa City woman accused of spitting on officer

An Iowa City woman wanted on theft warrants was arrested after allegedly spitting on an officer trying to obtain information from her.

The incident occurred at the University of Iowa Health Care Main Campus on Hawkins Drive. Thursday morning shortly after 6:45, and Iowa City Police officer on a different call was reportedly advised by a Johnson County deputy that 44-year-old Chadra Gray of the Town and Campus Apartments had an active warrant for failing to appear for her initial appearance on 4th degree theft back in September.

The officer then attempted to obtain information from Gray, who allegedly became agitated and spat on them.

Gray was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
