A Johnson County jailer has been injured in a scuffle with an inmate who was trying to clog the toilet in his cell.

23-year-old Abinadi Adame of Pepper Drive was originally booked into the jail on November 13th after he allegedly threatened a Coralville man with wrench, allegedly used the wrench to damage property in the man’s apartment building, then reportedly assaulted a medical worker while being treated at University of Iowa Health Care on Hawkins Drive.

At 8:30 Tuesday morning, Adame allegedly attempted to clog the toilet in his cell. When a deputy attempted to escort him away from the scene, Adame reportedly tried to pull away and was taken to the ground. The deputy suffered a leg injury that required medical attention.

In addition to the previous charges against him, Adame is now also charged with Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on that count, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Adame is already facing up to ten years behind bars for the wrench and UIHC incidents.
