Allegedly stealing a drone from a Coralville business has led to the arrest of an Iowa City man.
Coralville Police say just before 4:45 Monday afternoon 40-year-old Nicholas Anderson of Regal Lane walked out of Theisens on Westcor Drive with a shopping basket filled with unpaid items, setting off the anti-theft alarms. Officers located Anderson nearby about five minutes later, using security video to confirm he was the suspect.
Police say Anderson, who has multiple previous theft convictions, ditched the evidence during the ensuing foot chase. He was captured and charged with 3rd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
A review of the Theisens security video shows Anderson had stolen a drone valued at $59.99. The drone was never recovered.
