An Iowa City transient who was wanted on a warrant for a revocation of his pre-trial release after allegedly committing a domestic assault now faces a drug charge.

Police arrested 50-year-old Jeremiah Johnson Thursday afternoon on the warrant after locating him on the 1400 block of South Gilbert Street.  A search incident to arrest allegedly found a pill bottle prescribed to a different person, containing over 10 suspected Hydrocodone pills.

A check of Johnson’s criminal history turned up two controlled substance convictions from Colorado in 2008 and 2003.

He was charged with 3rd or subsequent Controlled Substance violation, and Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, both Class D felonies. If convicted on the charges, Johnson could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
