A traffic stop on Interstate 380 in North Liberty has led to a rare charge against a Lucas County man.

The Iowa State Patrol says 37-year-old Benjamin Cooper of Lucas was driving a 1995 Kenworth W900 semi on the offramp from I-380 southbound to Penn Street just after 7:45 on the night of December 5th. Cooper reportedly has a suspended or disqualified license due to non-payment of an Iowa fine.

On Friday, Cooper was formally charged with Driving a Commercial Vehicle When Disqualified. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
