University of Iowa pauses College of Law dean search

Iowa Now release (edit)

The University of Iowa is temporarily suspending its search for a new dean of the College of Law.

Iowa Now reports a national search was launched in July and the university invited three candidates to campus in early-December.

After evaluating campus feedback and consulting with the search committee, university leadership determined none of candidates was the right fit for the position and decided to pause the search.

Executive Vice President and Provost Kevin Kregel said while each candidate made a strong case, the search committee felt that they needed to step back and take some additional time to make sure they find the right leader for Iowa Law.

Kevin Washburn, dean of the College of Law, announced in May that he would conclude his term as dean on December 31.

Todd Pettys, the Chair in Civil Litigation, will serve as interim dean of the college until a new dean is in place.
