Reportedly being found slumped over the wheel in a Solon parking lot in the middle of the night has led to an OWI charge against a Marion man.
A welfare check was requested on 36-year-old Joshua Cummings of 27th Street just after 3am Wednesday after he was observed slumped over the wheel of his Ford pickup in a lot on Highway 1. Upon contact, a sheriff’s deputy woke him up.
Cummings allegedly had slurred speech, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and had bloodshot watery eyes. He reportedly admitted to driving from Iowa City after drinking with friends and stopping in the parking lot due to his intoxication.
After failing field sobriety tests, Cummings refused chemical testing and was charged with his second OWI. If convicted, he could face up to two years in jail.
