An Iowa City man faces OWI charges and a count of Child Endangerment after allegedly driving drunk Tuesday afternoon.
46-year-old Adam Hooks of Wagon Wheel Drive was stopped near the intersection of Sycamore Street and McCollister Boulevard after swerving both into the left and right side curbs of McCollister while heading eastbound.
Hooks reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. He allegedly chose not to answer when asked how much alcohol he had consumed. Field sobriety tests were cut short because of concerns about his balance.
Hooks agreed to a Datamaster test, which showed his breath-alcohol level at .274 percent, over three times the legal limit. His six-year-old stepson was in the vehicle with him.
Hooks was charged with second offense OWI and Child Endangerment; he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison if convicted on both counts.
