A Johnson County supervisor says they plan to remain on the board despite initial plans to resign at the end of the year.
In a post on the V Fixmer-Oraiz for Johnson County Supervisor Facebook page, Fixmer-Oraiz says they changed their mind about the planned resignation because of “the stark reality of Trump’s re-election and the impact it will have on the LGBTQ+ community”, and the trans community specifically. They go on to say they have “chosen to stay and fight for the Iowa that we all deserve.”
Fixmer-Oraiz, who is trans, adds their decision came after “a series of recent events and conversations”.
Fixmer-Oraiz still has two years remaining on their term.
