Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity has announced it has received a $15,000 grant from Lowe’s to help repair two homes in Iowa City and Lone Tree.
With the support of the grant, Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity completed repairs at two homes to ensure the residents could continue living safely and independently. One homeowner had recently undergone an amputation and was unable to return home from a rehab center until his house was modified to meet his accessibility needs. Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity remodeled the bathroom and installed a ramp to allow him safe entry and exit.
Another homeowner and her husband are in their late seventies and needed help to age in place safely. To help them remain independent, an accessibility ramp was installed at their home.
The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes.
