For the second time in just over a month a suspect has trespassed in the construction area near Iowa City City Hall.

Iowa City Police say an officer observed 20-year-old Austin Jordan and a friend running in the area of City Hall on East Washington Street with a traffic cone and a sign that they say were “clearly stolen” from the construction area. The officer activated his lights and Jordan reportedly dropped the items and fled behind a nearby home. He was later located nearby showing what police say were multiple signs of intoxication. Jordan also allegedly had a fictitious ID and his breath alcohol level was measured at .113%. Police say he admitted to stealing the items from the construction area and to owning a fake ID.

Jordan, a University of Iowa student from Winterset, is charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Fictitious License. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.

Earlier this month, 19-year-old Kadan Hansen of Leon, Iowa and 18-year-old Jesse Felton of Woodburn, Iowa pleaded guilty to 5th Degree Criminal Mischief charges after they vandalized the same construction area last month. They were each fined $105.
