An Iowa City man arrested for public intoxication over the weekend allegedly threatened an officer’s life.
Police came in contact with 39-year-old Dustin Snyder when he was called in as an intoxicated person causing problems at a location on the 1000 block of Diana Street. He was allegedly observed with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of ingested alcohol.
Officers attempted to find other options for Snyder but he reportedly remained uncooperative and denied any other services. He was subsequently taken into custody and provided a post-arrest PBT of .205 percent.
While being driven to jail, Snyder allegedly made vague threats towards an officer, hurling insults and racial slurs at him. He then reportedly said that he would rip the officer’s head off his shoulders when he located him after being released from jail.
Snyder was charged with Public Intoxication and 1st degree Harassment, punishable by a jail term of up to 25 months if convicted.
