The suspect in an Iowa City stabbing case has entered a not guilty plea.

35-year-old Lacey Bode of Iowa City entered the plea at a Monday court appearance. Iowa City Police say just after 1:15 on the morning of October 27th officers were standing in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street when they were notified of a stabbing that occurred at the Haven…formerly known as H Bar. Two victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The first victim was six months pregnant and had a stab wound to her stomach. She told police she tried to walk behind the bar when Bode began to push her.  The woman told Bode not to touch her because of her condition, but Bode allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly tried to stab her.

The second victim stated she jumped between the two and, during a subsequent scuffle, reportedly had her face sliced open and received a small cut to her leg.  The face wound required stitches.

Bode allegedly placed herself at the scene and admitted to there being an altercation.

Bode is charged with Going Armed with Intent, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon on a Pregnant Person, Assault with the Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury.  If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 22 years in prison.
