Riverside man arrested after reported road rage incident involving a firearm

An arrest has been made after a reported road rage incident involving a firearm near the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.

According to Washington County dispatch records, a driver reported having a gun pulled on them by another motorist just before 1:00 Wednesday afternoon while eastbound on Highway 22 near Vine Avenue.

The suspect’s vehicle was pulled over at Highway 22 and 180th Street in Muscatine County, near the Cedar River. The driver, 62-year-old Kirk Burkett of Riverside, is charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Person Ineligible to Carry a Dangerous Weapon, Hemp Inhalation, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Maintain Control, and Passing on the Wrong Side. A second offense Operating While Intoxicated charge is pending lab results from the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
