Iowa City opens bidding for projected $9.6 million Court Street reconstruction project

The Iowa City City Council has opened bidding for a projected $9.6 million reconstruction project on a portion of Court Street.

The affected stretch of Court Street runs from 1^st Avenue to Muscatine Avenue, near City High School. Plans include repaving, sidewalk upgrades, storm sewer and water main work, new traffic signals, and a new utility trench for communications and electrical lines.

Work is projected to begin in February of 2025 and wrap up in the fall of 2027. The city council voted unanimously this week to begin soliciting bids, which are due by December 18^th. A decision on a contractor is expected at the January 7^th council meeting.
