A Coralville man wanted for an alleged assault and criminal mischief incident was arrested Monday after reportedly attacking a University of Iowa Health Care worker.

The first incident occurred the morning of October 25th.  23-year-old Abinadi Santos Adame reportedly knocked on his neighbor’s door while holding an approximately two-foot long ratchet wrench. When the neighbor opened the door, Adame allegedly raised the wrench as if he were holding a baseball bat and getting ready to swing it. Adame reportedly told the neighbor to come outside, and smiled at him. The neighbor was in fear of being attacked, and closed the door before Adame could swing the wrench.

Adame then swung the wrench at two doors, allegedly causing about $1200 in damage. When officers arrived, he reportedly put the wrench behind his back. He was given multiple commands to put the wrench down, but he allegedly advanced towards them and raised the wrench above his head.

A warrant for Adame’s arrest was issued on October 28th.

Monday morning, Adame was at University of Iowa Health Care on Hawkins Drive when he allegedly put his hand in a worker’s face and shoved her head against a door.  He reportedly held his hand on the woman’s face and applied pressure while her head was pinned.

Adame was arrested and charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations with Intent of Injury, 3rd degree Criminal Mischief, and Assault with Intent to commit Serious Injury for the October incident. He was additionally charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations for Monday’s altercation. If convicted on all counts, Adame could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
