Cedar Rapids Police announced they’ve arrested the person they believe robbed a fast food restaurant earlier this week.

Police were called to the Wendy’s on the 1300 block of 1st Avenue NE Tuesday  at approximately 7:28 a.m.  Witnesses report a single suspect robbed the location while armed with a handgun and fled the area on foot.

As a precaution,  nearby Coe College initiated security protocols to ensure student and staff safety.

Following an investigation, police arrested 34-year-old Jamercion D’Andre Bush of Cedar Rapids Wednesday. He’s been charged with 1st degree Robbery, Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime, Going Armed with Intent, and being a Felon in possession of a Firearm.

He was released from prison in 2022 after being sentenced to ten years in prison in 2022 for stabbing his wife. Bush reached a plea deal in that case that originally charged him with attempted murder.
