The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on a car vs. e-bike accident Tuesday morning near Kalona.
According to a Tuesday afternoon news release, at 8:45am the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Highway 1 at 560th St SW, north of Kalona. A single vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 1 when an eight-year-old on an e-bike attempted to cross the highway from 560th Street and was struck.
The juvenile was transported by ambulance to University of Iowa Health Care for minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was uninjured.
Highway 1 was temporarily blocked during the investigation.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Kalona First Responders, the Johnson County Ambulance Service, and the Iowa State Patrol.
