The city of Swisher is planning to name a new mayor in a few days.
Current Swisher mayor Julie Persons was just elected Johnson County Auditor, meaning the mayorship will be vacant as of this coming Tuesday. That’s when the Swisher city council plans to vote on a new mayor, whose term will run until the end of Persons’ current term in November of next year.
A list of those who have submitted mayoral applications has not been released. A special election could still be called if enough Swisher residents sign and file a petition asking for that option.
