An Iowa man who reportedly claimed he’s usually dangerously drunk still had a BAC nearly three times the legal limit when arrester for OWI over the weekend.

44-year-old Patrick Keck of Winfield was called in as a reckless driver Sunday night just before 10:15 near the intersection of Burlington and Front Street. According to the arrest report, Keck drove into the side of the Burlington Street bridge and got himself stuck on the railroad tracks.

Upon contact, Keck had slow slurred speech, watery eyes, was unsteady on his feet and had the odor of ingested alcohol.  Police say he was swaying and at one point fell down.

Keck allegedly had trouble following directions on field testing, admitted he was drunk and claimed that his breath-alcohol level is usually around .470 percent.  His actual Datamaster reading was still high, at .233 percent.

Keck was charged with his first OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
