Two different drivers arrested for OWI after early morning Iowa City traffic accident

Two different drivers have been arrested for drunk driving after their part in an early Sunday morning chain reaction traffic accident in Iowa City.

Iowa City Police were called to a collision involving a 2011 Chevy Equinox and a 2006 Ford F150 near the intersection of Highway 6 and Boyrum Street just before 2 a.m. Both drivers…identified as 24-year-old Maycol Aleman Bustillo of the Lake Ridge manufactured housing community and 33-year-old Alvaro Rayo of the Regency manufactured housing community…allegedly showed signs of intoxication. Police say Aleman Bustillo had a breath alcohol level of .190%, while Rayo’s was reportedly measured at .165%.

Both men are charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Failure to Stop at an Assured Clear Distance, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability. An investigation determined both men rear-ended cars in front them, although the exact lineup of cars is not listed in arrest records.
