An area transient was arrested Wednesday after assaulting a man at an Iowa City encampment.

According to the police report, 35-year-old Roy Vowels was upset about another man being loud at an encampment on the 2000 block of Waterfront Drive.  He allegedly punched the man in the face, causing him to fall on the ground. Vowels reportedly admitted to also hitting the man three more times after he fell.   The victim was transported to hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Vowels was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to a year if convicted.
