A Johnson County Jail inmate has been charged with assault after allegedly injuring two deputies.
Saturday at approximately 12:15pm, area transient Jose Hernandez allegedly became uncooperative with jail rules and required a cell extraction. The 30-year-old reportedly injured two deputies during the extraction; one suffered an abrasion under the nose and another received a hand injury that required medical attention.
Hernandez was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations causing Bodily Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on the charge, Hernandez could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
Hernandez has been in the Johnson County Jail since May 6th, when he was arrested on a 2nd degree Robbery charge. He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted on that charge; a case management conference is scheduled for this Friday.
