Caitlin Clark will be playing for a new head coach in 2025.
The Indiana Fever announced Sunday that the organization has parted ways with head coach Christie Sides.
Fever President of Basketball Operations Kelly Krauskopf said, “While decisions like these are never easy, it is also imperative that we remain bold and assertive in the pursuit of our goals, which includes maximizing our talent and bringing another WNBA championship back to Indiana. Coach Sides was an incredible representative of the Fever and our community, and we wish her nothing but success in the future.”
Sides posted a simple message on X Sunday morning: “Leave it better than you found it.”
Sides posted a 33-47 regular-season record in her two years as Fever head coach, and last season helped lead the team to their first postseason appearance since 2016. In addition to having back-to-back WNBA Rookies of the Year in Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, Sides became the first coach in franchise history to be named WNBA Coach of the Month in August. She had two more seasons remaining on a four-year contract.
The Chicago Sun Times reports Stephanie White, currently under contract with the Connecticut Sun, is expected to take the helm in Indiana. White played for Indiana, her home-state team, for four seasons from 2000 to ‘04 and was an assistant coach for the Fever from 2011 to ‘14 before being promoted to head coach in 2015. She led the Fever to the WNBA Finals that year, where the team lost to the Minnesota Lynx. White would coach the Fever for one more season in 2016, when the team lost in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
The Sun finished 3rd in the regular season and lost to Minnesota in 5 games in the WNBA semifinals.
